New Facility to Expand Geib Funeral Services

In late February 2005, Geib Funeral Services, Parral, Ohio, celebrated the grand opening of its new facility. This new funeral home is a clean, up to date new facility designed by J. Stuart Todd, Inc., defining the contemporary style of architecture with an open and flexible building plan. The 1,600 S.F. Grand Atrium is the center point of the building with a 24’ square skylight at the top of the 30’ high ceiling, and a massive stone fireplace as the main focal point. Every major space in the facility opens onto the atrium, allowing it to serve as overflow for various functions. The Great Room is a gathering space which can be used as two staterooms, or a large chapel seating 240. The furnishings and lighting can easily convert the space into an area for weddings, meetings, reunions, etc. The Hospitality Room is a space which can also be divided into two community areas, or transform into one large room. This area can be used for anything from intimate dinners to large cocktail parties for several hundred people. Each community room has a separate exterior entrance, allowing for this part of the building to be used by an outside group without accessing the rest of the facility.

Geib Funeral Services also contains an open merchandising display area, allowing guests to view everything in the room immediately upon walking inside the new facility. A children’s lounge is located adjacent to the atrium, equipped with toys, games, puzzles, and video equipment. The building will also have two retorts, one for humans and one for the growing pet cremation business.

The exterior of Geib Funeral Services has a clean, unpretentious exterior, with a bronze metal seam roof, and a stucco finish with 3 feet of stone wainscoting around the base of the facility. A large, heated porte cochere is located in front of the funeral home, and along the side of the facility is the load out able to accommodate three cars. The flexibility of this 13,467 square foot funeral home gives the facility a fresh, open concept, transforming the traditional ideas of the funeral home to allow Geib Funeral Services to convert to the changing face of funeral service.
