New Facility to Expand Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service

Ground was broken September 2003, to begin construction on a new facility for Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service, St. Joseph, Missouri. To be located at 5005 Frederick Boulevard, this new facility will be built in addition to the multiple Meierhoffer funeral homes in Northwest Missouri. The funeral home will be built in St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery, currently owned by the Meierhoffer Family. Designed by J. Stuart Todd, Inc., this facility will consist of 35,553 square feet and is targeted for completion in May 2004. Al J. Mueller Construction Co. based out of St. Joseph, Missouri, is managing the construction of the funeral home.

The new facility will be transitional in style, with a majority of the rooms being multi-purpose. Two separate services can be held simultaneously. On either side of the facility will be a chapel, coffee lounge, and porte-cochere, providing enough space so the services will be isolated from one another. One chapel will seat 200 while the second chapel will seat 150, and both chapels will have capabilities to convert into staterooms using folding walls. A total of seven staterooms will be in Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service. A reception center will serve as an area for families and friends to gather for meals or greetings after a service. The facility will also contain a crematory with an adjacent viewing room for family members. Also, a flower shop is available inside the funeral home to assist in making the service planning more accommodating to family and friends. The new facility will also include five arrangement rooms and a double station preparation room.

To create a warm and comfortable atmosphere, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Service chose JST Interiors, Inc. for the interior design. Furthermore, J. Stuart Todd, Inc. will design a swan house for St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery to add character to the natural landscaping, and to enhance the surrounding area.
