This project was very unique in that it was built under the new Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, California. The basement level provided a large area with high ceiling where we were able to design a 1,700 crypt, five high mausoleum. A creative indirect ceiling lighting design and backlit stained glass windows disguise the fact that the mausoleum is 20 feet underground. Stained glass windows from the original Cathedral were utilized in the new design. Private rooms with backlit stained glass windows were also included as well as a large columbarium. Beautiful Spanish limestone covers all the crypt faces.
