Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service

Wilmington Burial - Header

This project was to convert a veterinarian clinic into a complete funeral facility.  There was no embalming suite as this was done in the client’s adjacent building.  The rectangular 5,500 Sq. Ft. building was symmetrical with central structural columns which also created a partial second floor mezzanine for a couple of offices and mechanical space.

With the building being divided by structural columns down the middle, we created a plan with two large chapels on one side of the building (could be opened into one large chapel with movable wall system), a central grand foyer at the entry with visitation hall down the center and offices, public toilets, arrange and merchandising space on the opposite since.

A large double carport/entry was added and became the “front” of the building facing into the main parking lot.  This architectural element provided a functional and esthetic addition to the building.

The exterior of the building was transformed by painting the existing brick in a new color, adding a stone water table and stone column bases, adding new fascia and trim, adding decorative columns at the windows and doors, and installing a new composition roof in a charcoal color.  The building was detailed in a traditional Carolina motif.
